Whitin Observatory, Wellesely College

Since 1900, the Whitin Observatory has been home to the astronomy department at Wellesley College. In 2010, it was renovated and expanded with the addition of a new teaching lab that serves students across science departments. As part of this project, the original character of the oldest wings was preserved while other parts of the building were adapted, resulting in a more functional plan and efficient building envelope. This project was recently awarded a LEED Silver Certification.
