Algoma Cottage
This 2100 sq ft retreat was designed to fit the wooded landscape. The orientation of the home makes the best use of natural light (the house was positioned to save existing trees on the site). The exterior is clad in Hardie siding with recycled rubber shingles. Reclaimed barn wood accents the living area. Kitchen and bath counters are Richlite, a recycled paper product. The home is heated with by a geothermal system, and florescent lighting was incorporated to keep energy consumption low.
